The General Electric Computer Department Alumni Association, after considerable thought, has concluded that the next reunion will be held in Chicago in September 2008. Arrival will be Thursday the 25th, and checkout on Sunday the 28th. This is a great time of year in Chicago, a city with lots of great attractions and a time when the weather should be excellent.

It appears at the moment that the reunion will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, on the Chicago River, close to Lake Michigan and within walking distance of a huge number of places of interest. September is a busy month in Chicago, so hotels require commitments a year in advance and penalties if the guaranteed number of rooms aren't occupied and paid for. Therefore, we are requesting that each of you let us know if you believe you will attend so that we can have some indication of how far out on a limb we are in making commitments for rooms and services. This is not a firm commitment on your part, just a way of giving us a feel for attendance.

Expenses that we know about:

Rooms: $210 per night (normally $250.)
Banquet: $65 per person (cash bar)

In addition, we are planning a boat ride and lunch on Lake Michigan, and we have not yet received ball park costs for this. Other possible costs include buses should the program committee decide to arrange excursions beyond walking distance, and shopping on the Magnificent Mile should you bring a spouse.

Please, as quickly as you can, let us know if you think you will attend. You can simply reply to this e-mail, send an e-mail to me at cchare@cox.net, or call Phil Howard at: (602) 216-9100 and leave a message if he isn't there. We need to get a reading on how many will be attending so we can complete the negotiations with the hotel with some confidence. Let us know if you will definitely attend, or probably will attend, and would stay at the hotel. Also, if you know any alums who do not use email, please ask them about their attending the next reunion.
